Where and How to Vote

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Polls are open 7am to 7pm. Here is everything you need: polling place, ID, and what is on the ballot.

Neighbor,

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3. Polls across South Dakota are open 7am to 7pm. Here is your one-page, zero-stress guide, far enough ahead that you can actually act on it.

Find your polling place tonight

Do not assume it is where it was last time; polling places change. Look yours up in two minutes at sdsos.gov through the Voter Information Portal, or call the Pennington County Auditor. Screenshot it now, and decide when you will go. Before work beats after work; the 5pm line is the only line of the day.

Bring ID

South Dakota asks for photo identification at the polls: a driver's license, state ID, tribal ID, passport, or student ID all work. If you arrive without ID, you can still vote by signing a personal identification affidavit, but bringing the card is faster.

Already voted absentee?

Thank you. Your ballot needs to be at the auditor by Election Day; if it is still sitting on your counter this close in, hand-deliver it rather than mailing it. Then your job is simple: be the friend with the car. Somebody you know needs a ride to the polls on the third.

What you will see on the ballot

The statewide races, your local offices, and the one constitutional question on this ballot: SJR 504 on mobile sports betting, where I am voting no. The eminent domain amendment many of you expected to see, HJR 5001, passed the House 62-5 and then died in the Senate, so it is not on your ballot at all.

And in the State House section for District 32, you get TWO votes. I am Zac Martin. I am the dad who followed his son to Rapid City, put every position in writing before asking for anything, and drafted eleven family court reform bills to file in January. I am respectfully asking for one of your two votes.

Take someone with you

The single highest-impact thing you can do on Election Day costs nothing: bring one person. A neighbor, a coworker, your kid who just turned 18. Democracy is a team sport in a district this size.

Polls open at 7 on Tuesday, November 3. See you out there.

Strong Families. Strong South Dakota.
